I came here on invitation for their dry Launch. I was truly amazed by the food. I grew up with my Armenian grandmother's cooking. She made exquisite and huge meals for our extended family. She would cook for days in preparation for one meal. Days of work gone in a matter of minutes because the food was irresistible.
Layalina took me right back to my grandmothers table. It was full of old world flavours and nostalgia and yet alive with fresh flavours and a bit of novelty.
Go there and try everything. The tabouleh, which is just a simple salad was bursting with freshness and the Lobster tail was other worldly.
Their cocktail list is inventive and fun. There are well thought out virgin cocktails for those of us who can't handle the booze. And if there is a cocktail you would like that is not on the list- just ask.
Philippe, the general manger, took very good care of us. He was funny and charming and clearly passionate about this venture.
I cannot recommend Layalina highly enough.
With a confident and talented chef at the helm out in the kitchen, Layalina food is consistently excellent with mezze and a la carte dishes available, all infused with the traditional flavours of the Lebanon. A late night cocktail lounge, Privée is found below stairs, providing an atmospheric, vibrant spot, following in the footsteps of the dining room above it, in which to relax and unwind as the night wears on.
